Everybody has an opinion…
The past couple years have been an amazing ride. RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 changed my life and I will forever be thankful for the opportunity. I got to compete against some of the FIERCEST Drag Queens in America! I didn’t win the title, but had a blast trying! Third place never felt so good.
Through the show I’ve gained a nice following. I am still amazed with all the exposure. I get to meet a lot of interesting people and see some amazing places. Most of the time the people I meet are nothing, but nice. Then there are the ‘jerks.’
The ‘jerks’ always finds something negative to say. It drives me crazy that someone would pay to get into a venue, wait in line for the ‘meet & greet’ just to say :
“You really not all that wonderful.” or “Wow, you’re fat in person.” (i can go on…)
This is all happening while they stand and pose for a picture with me. What in the world? It’s everyone’s right to say what they want to say. Don’t get me wrong. I like the idea, too. I’m all for speaking one’s mind. What i’m not for? Absent-minded critiques. Speak when spoken to.
Another kind of ‘jerk’ is one who decides to ‘LIKE’ my Facebook Fan Page just to write something awful about me. I had to block someone a few days ago, because of how bad he made me feel. He posted:
“Jujubee it would be a waste of time to see you. You’re untalented and can’t dance. Just saying. I still love you girl.”
I wonder how a human being could be so crass. Yes, I was on Television, but I’m still human. I have feelings just like everyone else does. Why not go to your favorite Queen’s page and give her love? It’s easier to be nice.
I may sound like I’m dwelling, but i’m only human. I wish there was a way I could tune it out, but when negativity is presented to me, it sticks. One hundred people can ‘I love you,’ but the ONE negative comment always stands out.
Why is that?
I don’t want anyone to feel bad for me. I’m not looking for sympathy. I’m asking for respect. That’s all. Treat me like I treat you. I’m not a rude person. I am happy and humbled. Love it or leave it.
